Fashion jewelry can tarnish, but that doesn’t mean it has to be thrown out! There are several reasons why jewelry becomes dull or dirty, tarnishes from water, air exposure and even hairspray and lotions. The most common problem with fashion jewelry that has been packed away, is that over time the metal is exposed to elements in the air which cause a chemical reaction, leaving them tarnished or discolored. So, learning how to care for your jewelry so that they remain beautiful for as long as possible is key, especially if you want to wear them for years to come.
There’s no rule for how often your fashion jewelry needs to be cleaned, but a good rule of thumb is the more you wear a piece, the more it should be cared for. Clean it about once every few months or when it starts to look dull.

1. The best way to maintain pure silver jewelry is to wear it every day, as the body’s oils can give it a naturally warm luster.
2. Do not wear silver jewelry with other precious metal jewelry to avoid collision deformation or scratches.
3. Keep pure silver jewelry dry. Do not wear it while swimming, and keep it away from hot springs and seawater. When not in use, gently wipe the surface with a cotton cloth or tissue to remove moisture and dirt, then store it in a sealed bag or box to avoid contact with air.
4. Toothpaste + soft-bristled toothbrush: Squeeze an amount of toothpaste the size of a soybean, add water to make foam, and gently brush the oxidized areas (suitable for polished silver jewelry; use with caution on frosted ones).
With a few easy steps, your fashion jewelry can look like new again!
